Crowns are used to restore heavily
filled teeth, badly broken down teeth or where teeth
are crooked. They can give your teeth that new smile
you have longed for... from one tooth to a full makeover.
Along with veneers and bridgework we can create that
new look. Crowns are also placed on implants. A crown
is simply a strong porcelain tooth shaped cap fitted
over a prepared tooth. The tooth will need shaping
and we can use our new "cerec" one visit all porcelain
crown where possible by taking optically scanned impressions
and letting our computerised CAD/CAM system take over.
If this is not possible... don't
despair. By taking conventional impressions our highly
skilled technicians will create your crowns but you
will need a second appointment to have the crowns fitted.
In the meantime, temporary crowns will be placed to
maintain your good looks.
Bridges are used to replace missing
teeth. They are used in place of a denture. Bridges
can vary in types depending on the situation. Maryland
adhesive bridges use special adhesives to fix them
to adjacent teeth with the minimum of preparation.
Conventional bridge work relies on shaping adjacent
teeth as we would do for a crown.
Today with the success of dental
implants it may be possible to secure a larger bridge
or single implants with crowns where only a few teeth
are missing. The options available can be shown on
our Multi Media DVD Caesy System. Our care co-ordinator
along with your dentist will discuss your option.
